I have to admit that I don't have much of a green thumb. With that said, I still love to garden and do so each year with the kids. We actually tried indoor gardening during the winter and that was fun, but being outdoors is much more fun. This is why I was so excited to give the Garden Patch GrowBox a try. What is a GrowBox? It's just the most ingenious gardening idea, making gardening easier than ever!
There are two parts to the GrowBox: the bottom, which is the water well and the top, where the soil and plants go. I was able to put together my Grow Box in a matter of minutes just by clicking it into place. Then, we were ready to begin gardening!
First, I packed soil into the two holes that connect the water well to the top part and plants. This helps the water wick up to the roots of plants, so as long as there is water in the well, plants will continue to receive nourishment. After the soil was packed in, I filled the box halfway with more potting soil, sprayed well with water, filled the rest of the box to the very top with the soil and watered again. So easy!

The Nutrient Patch Cover |
There are 16 total spaces in the GrowBox and they are used depending on what plants you are growing. When planting tomatoes, we can only use two of the spaces because they will eventually grow to be so big. If you plant too many, this will compromise their health as they get bigger and compete for space. Directions were included with the box to tell me how many of each type of plant can be inserted in the box, which was extremely helpful.
Per the instructions, I cut a line and triangle on the numbers where I was to insert the tomato plants first and then I dug about a 3 inch hole for them. The Nutrient Patch Cover fits right around the plant to keep it safe and to constantly feed it nutrients. We moved the box to a highly sunlit area, over by the swing set and picnic table since we've been trying to spruce up that part of our land. The box looks so cute there and definitely adds to the scenery. Also, the kids will be able to watch the tomatoes grow and we will know when we need to add more water to the well.
I cannot wait to see how many tomatoes this yields for our family! I love this box and the great thing is that I can use it over and over again. I don't think gardening could get any easier because the box is self-fertilizing, self-watering and I don't have to worry about weeds. Did I mention it is also eco-friendly and provides a 100% natural way to garden? We could even use it for indoor gardening. I only wish we had this at our last house because we lived up in the mountains where the soil contained too many rocks. Plants didn't stand a chance. The Garden Patch GrowBox would have been perfect for us! Hopefully our tomatoes will look like this once they grow:
