The True Story of Puss 'N Boots DVD Review

I always love reviewing DVDs because the kids love watching them. I was excited to receive The True Story of Puss 'N Boots from Phase 4 Films. which features the voice of William Shatner since I absolutely love him. Josiah and I popped it in to watch as soon as Liam went to bed.

About the Movie
A young farmer's son inherits a strange talking cat with magical boots. With his cunning wit, Puss helps him win the heart of the Princess while battling devious suitors that are after the throne!

My Thoughts

Well, this movie held Josiah's attention for all of ten minutes and held mine for about twenty. I was expecting more action, something cute and creative, a la the character of Puss 'N Boots from Shrek, but this was not the same at all. This "G"-rated movie was anything but. The jokes and adult humor do not entertain small children much less hold their attention for any amount of time. I was surprised this movie was a G, as it should at least be PG.

The animation was amazing and the humor dark. I usually like this type of movie, but I think my dislike of the film was more because it was not at all what I expected and certainly not meant for a four year-old. I feel like I need to watch it again sans children and think it could be more enjoyable. For now, I think the kids will stick to Caillou and Barney. Those upbeat shows are definitely more up their alley.

If you are looking for dark humor and the usual Shatner antics, you can purchase this movie for only $17.49!

I was sent this movie for review purposes. No other compensation was provided. All opinions written are 100% mine and only mine.

I haven't seen it yet, but sometimes the adult humor is something that only the adults will get, so it may be a little over the edge, but not to worry cause the kids won't get it. I don't know if it was like that. I know my teenage children are looking forward to it. Well see what they say. I know it needs to be appropriate for the young ones. Thank for the review. Gloria
