Dreyer's & Edy's Slow Churned Ice Cream A Reason To Smile Campaign

Our family loves ice cream and although we eat it year-round, we tend to eat much more during the hot summer months to keep us cool. Here in Georgia, the heat and humidity can be intense, so we fight the heat with ice cream! Edy's Ice Cream, or Dreyer's if you are East of the Rockies, just happens to be one of our favorite go-to brands and thanks to Mom Central, we had a chance to try out their Edy's Slow Churned Ice Cream.
We had never tried Edy's Slow Churned Ice Cream before, but we have eaten Edy's Grand. This summer my husband finally decided to start eating healthy like us and this is why I was so excited to try Edy's Slow Churned Ice Cream. It has half the fat and 1/3 fewer calories! They also offer yogurt blends and no sugar added versions, so there are many available. The boys, Ry and my husband prefer chocolate, so that's exactly what we got!

You judge by the pictures... do you think they liked Edy's Slow Churned Ice Cream?
Showing his ice cream smile!
Yes, indeed, they did. The ice cream is delicious and, as a mom, I like knowing it is better for them with less fat and calories. My husband said he is sticking to this ice cream from now on because it's creamy, satisfying and tastes just like other ice cream with more calories. Now we can all enjoy a great snack without feeling guilty! I know my husband is especially happy about this!
Making a mess and eating Edy's Slow Churned Ice Cream!
Over the summer Dreyer's / Edy's Slow Churned Light Ice Cream is giving away 25,000 scoops of ice cream while traveling around the country! This is part of their "A Reason to Smile" campaign to support Operation Smile. They will give consumers a free scoop of Slow Churned and snap a picture to capture the smile on their face, or their 'ice cream smile'. You can also participate by "Liking" their Facebook Page and uploading your 'ice cream smile'! We uploaded a picture of the boys because Dreyer's / Edy's will donate $5 to Operation Smile for every smile picture captured and uploaded! The goal is to capture over 25,000 smiles, which will amazingly allow Operation Smile to complete more than 500 reconstructive surgeries on children with cleft palates and other facial deformities. It's such a wonderful cause and I urge you to take a moment to snap an ice cream picture of your kiddos and upload it. It takes only a minute or two and is a great way to give back to someone in need.

Plus, out of all the photos captured and uploaded, 10 smiles will be featured in an Edy's (or Dreyer's) Slow Churned print ad and one will be featured on a carton of a limited-edition flavor being re-introduced in early 2013! So, go upload those pictures!

I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Dreyer’s / Edy’s. I received a coupon to purchase product samples and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.

I haven't tried this before but at 1/3 fewer calories I think I will be - it might make me feel a little less guilty about ALL the ice cream I'm giving my kiddos this summer:)
