Neighborhood Toy Store Day 2013 Celebration by ASTRA

Last year we worked with ASTRA and are excited to do so again for the Neighborhood Toy Store Day 2013! ASTRA, or the American Specialty Toy Retailing Association, is a non-profit association dedicated to promoting creative and open ended playtime for children. I love finding unique, fun and creative toys for my kids that not only interest them, but also challenge and educate in some way! This is what makes going to the toy store so much fun. You never know what you will find.

Our neighborhood toy store has such great toys and specialty items I haven't been able to find elsewhere. We try to only buy from local business owners when possible, from shopping our local farmer's market to buying back to school clothes. We enjoy shopping in locally owned businesses and supporting our community. Plus, there is just something more personalized and fun about shopping at stores where people know you and your likes. In addition, local businesses create jobs, preserve neighborhoods and also reduce sprawl. Did you know that independent local businesses put a significant amount of revenue back into the local economy compared to chain stores? There are so many great reasons to shop locally.

What is Neighborhood Toy Store Day?
The 4th annual Neighborhood Toy Store Day is Saturday, November 9th, 2013! Participating local stores will host fun  in-store events for families like crafts, activities for kids, performances and special discounts for shoppers! It's such a great way to get ready for the holiday season because you can find great deals on presents for the kids. The day is all about celebrating the joy of shopping for toys and boy do we love it!

Two great toys you are likely to find in your neighborhood toy store are the Peek A Bunny Boo made by Smart Games and The Complete X-Treme Sticker Maker Set from Creativity for Kids.
I love Creativity for Kids products and we have purchased several others at a local toy store, too, so I was excited to receive this one. It has been a favorite so far for the kids because they can be creative and color the stickers any way they want. I love the kit because it contains everything needed for arts & crafts time!
Plus, there is even a sticker journal for the kids to keep their creations in so they can show them all off.

For even more fun, ASTRA has launched the first ever "I Heart My Neighborhood Toy Store" Sweepstakes! Now through November 8th, 2013, log into the Your Neighborhood Toy Store website and enter to win some amazing prizes, including gift baskets and a grand prize vacation to Mexico!!
Do you shop locally? Use the store locater on the Your Neighborhood Toy Store website or by checking out the Woohoo Factor on Facebook and Twitter! Have a great Neighborhood Toy Store Day!
