Mega Bloks Blok Squad Construction Site Set

Josiah absolutely loves building blocks and Mega Bloks have been a staple in our home for as long as I can remember. We first began with the bigger blogs that are easier to use, which are the ones Liam now plays with, but now Josiah has moved on to smaller, more complex sets. His eyes lit up as soon as he saw his new Mega Bloks Blok Squad Construction Set.

About the Mega Bloks Blok Squad Construction Set

All missions are possible when you team up with the three Construction vehicles of the Blok Squad Construction Site! Build the Construction Vehicle 4x4 - a worker’s truck with optional trailer designed to haul more than a truck alone. With your Blok Squad Construction Worker, easily drive from the street right into a quarry! Construct the Track Loader - a big canopy, heavy lifting tractor with a huge shovel and tracked wheels. Move across any terrain and hoist the heaviest stones with your Blok Squad Construction Worker at the controls. Assemble the Road Roller - a heavy compacting machine that instantly crushes dirt, gravel and asphalt flat. With the help of your Blok Squad Construction Worker moving it into position, assist in making new paths and roads for Bloktropolis!

Band together with all three Construction vehicles to square-off a construction zone, dig out a quarry and level out the area to make it secure for your next skyscraper!

Ideal for children ages 5 and up!

My Thoughts
Josiah is 4 years old, so I was worried that he couldn't quite get the pieces together, but he did just fine. Instead of the blocks for younger kids, these actually build a variety of trucks. Both of the boys love construction vehicles, so this was perfect. Josiah went to work putting together his blocks while little brother watched and couldn't wait to play with the finished project. A few times I had to help him snap some pieces, but for the most part, he did it all on his own.

What I also love about this playset is the ability for kids to use their imagination. Josiah pretended he was on the construction site, building a house, hauling rocks, and digging for treasure. This is a great set, especially for only $19.99. Kids 5+ will enjoy the extra challenge this set brings and the fun they'll  have after putting together all the vehicles!

Summer Block Party #9: Mega Bloks: Thomas & Friends Sodor Search and Rescue Review & Giveaway (US & CA)

There are two things Josiah is currently obsessed with: Mega Bloks and Thomas the Train. When I saw the Mega Bloks Thomas & Friends Sodor Search and Rescue I couldn't wait for him to receive it. I knew he'd be super excited!

Here's a little about it:

Enter the world of Thomas and Friends with this great buildable playset from Mega Bloks! Build the Sodor Search and Rescue playset in any way you wish, building to new heights and winding lows as buildable Thomas and Harold characters patrol the area. Use the hardworking crane to load and unload new cargo, land Harold on the Helipad to give him a break between patrols and turn trains on the track switcher to get them going towards new adventures!

Ideal for children ages 3 and up!

Features:

• Build and rebuild Sodor Search and Rescue the way you see it!
• Literally take your builds and rebuilds high up into the Island of Sodor for a truly dynamic adventure!
• Includes Thomas and Harold buildable characters
• Included container doubles as a building platform for dynamic building possibilities and ensures pieces remain safe and secure when stored away
• Includes different accessories like opening doors, track switcher and working crane - have a different Sodor Search and Rescue Adventure every time!

My Thoughts

Like I said, I knew Josiah would love this toy, but what I didn't count on was just how cool it really was! We have several different buildable Mega Bloks sets, including Smurfs, Yo Gabba Gabba, and Ni Hao Ka i-Lan, which were all hits in our house, but the Thomas & Friends Sodor Search and Rescue is, by far, the very best set we have!

The main problem I have with blocks is a good way to store them, but this one actually comes inside a plastic container. Even better, the container doubles as part of the track! Josiah has gotten a kick out of the set because the possibilities for creating the tracks are endless. Every day he has played with this Mega Bloks set and every day he's displayed everything in a different way.

Mega Bloks are the perfect size for smaller hands. We began with the biggest Mega Bloks when Josiah was a year old and have moved up over the years. The Smurf set pieces are a little too small for him, but the Thomas & Friends set is perfect. Nothing entertains him like the imaginary play Mega Bloks creates. Plus, it increases his hand-eye coordination! I really can't say enough about them! Any child that loves Thomas will have a blast with this set!
