Renovate Your Home At Low Prices With Floor & Decor

Our flooring
I love decorating our home and trying out new Do-It-Yourself ideas. Our current home was quite a project for me when we moved in and I was so excited to get started. With three stories to decorate, this was no easy task and something that took us two years to do! The first thing we did was put in a marble countertop and installed beautiful wooden cabinets for the kitchen. Then we added a beautiful rug to the living room to give it more color. The entire house is wooden, so the deeper, darker blues and browns look perfect. Floor and Decor has the best selection in hardwood and I love all of the options. Out of the entire house, I have to say that my favorite renovation that I am most proud would have to be the basement. We used a Natural Maple Solid Hardwood for our home and have been so happy with that decision. It is so beautiful and, on Floor and Decor, it is only $2.99 a square foot.
The boys spend a great deal of time playing on the rug in our living room, which fits perfectly with the rest of our decor!
The basement was the usual cement structure until it was decorated. It now has a bedroom, bathroom and our "playroom" complete with a tv, couch and an air hockey table. One of the best things we did was add carpeting to the basement. When we moved in, Liam was still a baby and was crawling around. The upstairs hardwood flooring was not at all kid-friendly, so we spend a great deal of time downstairs in the basement. Being someone who likes to find great deals, we definitely did our research for products. There were no buying sprees for us. We had to calculate every cent. Looking online, I found Floor and Decor to be a great affordable option for low price flooring! The hardwood flooring actually starts at $1.79 per square foot, which is amazing.
A great picture of the boys showing part of our new cabinets and the beautiful hardwood we chose!
One of the tricks I learned for our walls was that we didn't have to paint them to decorate. Instead, we used wall decals for the basement for the kids' rooms. We found hand-painted decals that look absolutely amazing, even on the hardwood walls. We have a vehicle theme throughout the their rooms and the basement, which was not only easy, but complementary to the areas. I'll definitely use decals again in the future!
Check out the Floor and Decor store! It has to be huge to house their huge selection of  flooring and decor. I could have the best time in there!

Now that we have our home all fixed up, we are selling it and moving to the next house to renovate and decorate! I have to say that after all of my hard work, I hate to see it go, but I will be happy for someone else to enjoy it. We ended up adding porcelain, ceramic, stone, tile, wood and laminate to the cabin in different rooms to fit to decor in each space. The chimney is actually made of stone, giving the living room another great "in the mountains" feel to the cabin and it is also one of my favorite features.

Are you renovating your home in the near future! There are three things I suggest before getting started:

1. Have a plan! Note what you have in mind for each room and don't stray from the plan unless you find something you just have to purchase.
2. Do your research. Take a look at Floor and Decor because we are very impressed with their selection.
3. Don't take on too much at once. You may have a huge plan, but conquer one thing at a time. Don't overwhelm yourself or it will end up a project that is never finished.

Updating Our Kitchen & Dining Room With Beautiful Furniture

I love decorating our new cabin and giving it a new, updated sense of style. We've taken it from 1970s mid-western style to a beautiful 2012 designer cabin that we absolutely love! The one room on which I put a great deal of focus is our kitchen/dining room area because I love to cook and spend a lot of time there. I had, in my mind, a vision of how I wanted to decorate and what pieces I would like. Luckily, I found it all at Lakeland Furniture, which has high-end designer reproduction furniture at amazing prices.

I have a dining table already, but really needed some new dining chairs that match my home. Since it is a cabin, the walls are, of course, mostly brown, so when I started looking around, I found the most beautiful Chelsea Brown Faux Leather Chairs that match the table and our home perfectly.

Since our kitchen and dining room is connected, it looks smaller than the area really is. This is why I thought it would look great with a bar separating the room into two defined spaces. I knew I wanted breakfast bar stools with a back and really wanted them with arm rests, too, but was open to other ideas and designs. When I saw the Havana Brown Faux Leather Kitchen Breakfast Bar Stools, I knew they were the ones I wanted.
As a family on a budget, I have learned I don't have to sacrifice quality and style for a less expensive product. Thanks to Lakeland Furniture, my kitchen and dining room can be decorated, updated and gorgeous without spending thousands of dollars. Take a look at the Lakeland Furniture website and leave a comment telling me which chairs you would love to have in your home!
