How to Choose Flowers that Match your Decor

Bringing life into a home is not a difficult task. Live flowers and plants can make a space warm, inviting and full of life throughout the year. The problem that many individuals face is matching the colors and styles of different flowers to the room or décor in a house. Although it might seem difficult, selecting flowers that match the décor of a home or room is easier than it might seem.

Consider the Colors
Choosing flower that match the décor of a room starts with finding the right colors. Looking around the room for inspiration is a simple way to create a bouquet that will suit the space. When looking around the space, note the dominant color and the colors that help highlight certain areas within the space.

Flowers can match the dominant color or the colors that add definition, texture and interest to the room. Avoid flower colors that clash with the base color within the space and opt for options that will improve on the décor. For example, if the main color in a room is red, the best colors for flowers include purples and blues, which create a balance of color. Red flowers would blend into the space and pink flowers might clash, depending on the specific shade of red and pink.

Look at Styles
Matching the décor is not only about the color combinations. Any color of flower can match a room, particularly if the dominant colors are earth tones or neutral shades. Matching the style can seem more challenging, but it is actually easy with a simple rule in mind.

Consider the specific style of the space. Styles might range from modern and contemporary to classic and elegant. The problem is that the best flowers for the space can vary slightly based on that style choice.

Modern styles look best with flowers that have clean and simple lines. For example, lilies are a clean and simple flower that looks amazing in the modern space. Classic and traditional styles look best with flowers that have petals. Roses in particular look amazing in an elegant and traditional space. Eclectic styles can match any flower to the space due to the variation of design throughout the room.

Keep the Bouquet Simple
A simple bouquet will always match décor styles because it can look amazing in a modern or traditional space. Simplicity can vary based on the selected flower or flowers, but it can include monochromatic color schemes or using the same flowers with small definition to create a simple beauty.

A simple bouquet is easy to incorporate into a space because it will limit the possibility of clashing colors and will create a feeling of life within the room. When the design is simplistic, it creates a feeling of serenity and warmth in a room.

Selecting flowers that match the decorations within a room is not difficult. By selecting colors that match or stand out from the base color, it is possible to make any flower work within a home. When purchasing your flowers, make sure to choose local flowers. Locally grown flowers last longer, and are not sprayed with chemicals like their imported counterparts. Interflora
is an Australian company that grow their own flowers, and have a huge range of flowers and arrangements available.

Buying Beautiful Rugs For Every Room Of The House

In the past, we have always lived in apartments and houses with carpeting. I was so excited to move into our current home because of all the hardwood flooring. The only place that has carpet is the finished basement. However, I didn't take into account a few things: the floor sure is hard when you fall and the floors look a little bare.

As I have mentioned in the past, we live in a cabin, which means there are lots of open spaces and everything is wooden! Our living room, kitchen and dining room are all connected like a studio apartment area. Once we moved in all of our furniture, it started too look like home, I knew something was missing. We started looking for rugs online and I luckily stumbled upon World Rugs!

I found several beautiful rugs and even though I originally only wanted to purchase one rug, I ended up buying several for the entire house. Our furniture in the living room is a dark green, so I wanted something to match. I started searching for square rugs and found one that I absolutely love named Tones, with several brown colors that would look great in our cabin!

After I had my living room complete, I wanted to purchase a rug for our bathroom. In our old home house, the bathrooms were very small, but now we have a double vanity, shower and a jacuzzi tub, so we needed something a bit bigger. I happened to find some very unique modern rugs and fell in love with the rectangle Fusion print rug that is just my style.
I love this rug!
My kids have fallen on the floor a few times and end up with bumps and bruises. It's no fun for them, so I looked at  kids rugs for their bedroom. They spend a great deal of time playing in their room. I wanted something that wasn't too childish so they could use it for several years and I also wanted it to match the blue bedspread and curtains. When I saw the blue View rectangle rug, I knew that was the one for them.

I was so impressed with the selection at World Rugs. I looked at so many rugs before finding their website that I'd all but given up hope! Now I am so excited and cannot wait to receive my new rugs. They will get here right in time for me to show them off at Liam's birthday party, too.

Updating Our Kitchen & Dining Room With Beautiful Furniture

I love decorating our new cabin and giving it a new, updated sense of style. We've taken it from 1970s mid-western style to a beautiful 2012 designer cabin that we absolutely love! The one room on which I put a great deal of focus is our kitchen/dining room area because I love to cook and spend a lot of time there. I had, in my mind, a vision of how I wanted to decorate and what pieces I would like. Luckily, I found it all at Lakeland Furniture, which has high-end designer reproduction furniture at amazing prices.

I have a dining table already, but really needed some new dining chairs that match my home. Since it is a cabin, the walls are, of course, mostly brown, so when I started looking around, I found the most beautiful Chelsea Brown Faux Leather Chairs that match the table and our home perfectly.

Since our kitchen and dining room is connected, it looks smaller than the area really is. This is why I thought it would look great with a bar separating the room into two defined spaces. I knew I wanted breakfast bar stools with a back and really wanted them with arm rests, too, but was open to other ideas and designs. When I saw the Havana Brown Faux Leather Kitchen Breakfast Bar Stools, I knew they were the ones I wanted.
As a family on a budget, I have learned I don't have to sacrifice quality and style for a less expensive product. Thanks to Lakeland Furniture, my kitchen and dining room can be decorated, updated and gorgeous without spending thousands of dollars. Take a look at the Lakeland Furniture website and leave a comment telling me which chairs you would love to have in your home!
