It is very important to keep up with the learning process during the summer, especially for young children who are still learning the basics. Josiah has been learning his alphabet, sounds and numbers. If he went a few months without practice, he wouldn't retain much by the next school year. Research shows that children can lose up to 2.5 months of learning during the summer, which causes teachers to re-teach those skills the following year for 2-4 weeks! It's important as parents and caregivers to make sure this doesn't happen. Here are some fun facts about education and why it is important to practice during the summer break.
This summer we can do our part as parents to refresh our children's skills and that's where Carson-Dellosa comes into play. Their products, such as the Summer Bridge Activities items, help kids prepare for the upcoming school year and keep their skills sharp throughout the summer months!
Thanks to Carson-Dellosa, One Lucky Children Teaching Mama Reader Will Receive An Awesome Summer Learning Gift Pack.

Our dd will be starting pre-school in the fall so we really haven't had to take a break from learning! We play games every day that help her with her numbers and letters. Her cousins (who she sees after they are out of school) are really good working with her too!

My neice will be going to pre-school in sept. I get lots of work books for her from the dollar store. I watch her 2-3 days a wk. I help her learn to count, colors, shapes, and I let her play learning games online at nick jr. It helps her learn her eye to hand coordination. She likes memory games. Thanks for the giveaway!

We homeschool so we are ALWAYS doing school! :-) But over the summer I let the kids guide what we learn and do more "fun" stuff!
We read, and that is about it, but they are only 2, 3 and 4. We start kindergarden in the fall.

We always do a lot of reading in the summers. I'm getting ready to start homeschooling so this would be so awesome to try out!!
