I have to admit, I am a teacher at heart and the thought of having children was so exciting for many reasons, including being able to teach them about life. As the name of my blog states, my children have ended up teaching me just as much. There are some subjects my children enjoy more than others. Josiah loves arts and science, but does not seem to like math at all. It just so happens that math is not only my least favorite subject, but I am horrible at it. This is why I was so excited to hear about DimensionU!
In today's world of video games and electronic entertainment, it's so nice and rare to find games with educational value that encourage children to learn and succeed. This is exactly what DimensionU is about. Parents sign up for an account and then children, from Grades 3 and up, can readily play from the computer. The games are fun and similar to other games on the market, but they teach math as you go along. To go from one level to the next, you must answer math questions correctly. So, kids play fun games and learn at the same time.
Need to give your kids more incentive to play DimensionU games? No problem because you can set up an educational allowance account for each child. Basically, the parent signs up for the educational allowance plan and can pledge a certain amount for each week. For example, if Josiah completes a certain amount of levels and questions, he will earn $5 each week in EdCredits! The more he does, the more money can save up to buy fun items. The EdCredits are then exchanged for gift cards, which can be Amazon, GameStop or Best Buy!
