Our Trusty Huggies Diapers Stay Put & Keep Baby Dry

Each year it seems like we travel more and plan for more activities during the holidays! This year was definitely very busy and we were on the road more than ever before. We have experimented with all types of diapers over the years and there is one brand that we've constantly come back to, especially when traveling. We do love our cloth diapers, but Huggies Diapers are our favorite disposables and we use them often during the holiday season because they always stand the test of time. How? They fit in a way that is comfortable for Liam and they are absorbent. I can honestly say we've rarely (in 5 years of diapering) had a leak using Huggies, which is why they are always my first pick.
Before becoming a parent, I'd heard how active toddlers are, but I honestly had no idea what I was in for once my babies started walking. Oh boy! No regular diaper would do for Liam and this is why I love Huggies Little Movers with the SnugFit Waistband because it helps keep diapers in place and can withstand my very active boy.
My little model!
Okay, there is yet another reason I love this diaper and I'm a blushing as I write. Liam has decided he no longer likes wearing clothes. Yes, he has become a nudist over the past few months, enjoying stripping off his clothes and running into a room full of people. Everyone in the room begins shrieking in laughter (giving him further encouragement), though mine is usually in horror and embarrassment.
All smiles with his Huggies Little Movers
Until using Huggies Little Movers, I was this close to super gluing on his diapers to keep them on his body! Thankfully, my prayers were answered because unlike other diapers that he can easily slip off of his waist, Huggies Little Movers are more form-fitting and don't slide off as easily until Mama changes a diaper. His little activity has come to a halt... partially. Now if I can just figure out how to keep the rest of his clothes on!
Liam loves Pooh and Tigger!
Another diaper we've come to love over the years is the Huggies Overnites. We first discovered these when Josiah was about 6 months old. Every single night he peed through his diaper. We tried everything from disposables to wool cloth diapers. Nothing worked until we tried Huggies Overnites.
You cannot imagine how excited I was to wake up to find Josiah's clothes and crib nice and dry! From that point on, we've kept a stock of Huggies Overnites. They are also great for traveling during holidays and other family trips when we are on the road for long periods of time. The unique LeakLock feature offered by these diapers allow up to 12 hours of protection. The wetness is wicked away from the skin, which is great even for babies with sensitive skin like Liam.

You should definitely give these diapers a try. Liam is a huge fan and recommends them for other on-the-go, growing babies! Be sure to keep up with all the latest Huggies info via Facebook and Twitter! They often have some awesome promos, contests and coupons available. You can also share your own Huggies stories on the Huggies Facebook Page!

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central for Huggies. I received product samples to facilitate my review and a promotional item to thank me for participating.

Guide to Supermarket Deals

We all want to get the best value on our weekly shop, and this can often mean taking advantage of deals offered at the supermarket. However, with so many different types of moneysaving deal to choose from, it can get a little confusing.

You’ll have the ultimate peace of mind on value when you get your groceries from ASDA, thanks to the ASDA Price Guarantee, which will give you the difference if your shopping doesn't cost at least ten percent less than Tesco, Morrisons, Waitrose and Sainsbury’s.

However, while shopping at Britain’s Lowest Priced Supermarket (won 15 years running) is a great start, you’ll also want to take advantage of the great deals available to maximize your shopping savings.
Read on for a guide to the deals you’re likely to see in the supermarket, and which ones will be best for you and your family:

Buy One Get One Free
BOGOFs are a common sight in supermarkets, and mean that you’ll get double the amount for your money. If the item will be used then it’s a brilliant deal. However, be careful with perishables as you need to be sure that you will use the item in good time. If it’s a product that you like, will use, and would usually buy, however, BOGOFs are a fantastic way to save money.

Buy One Get Two Free
Even better is the BOGTF deal. These are far less common than BOGOFs but should be snapped up when spied. Again, make sure that the freebies will get used, otherwise it’s a false economy.

Bulk Value Buy
Those with plenty of storage space in their kitchen cupboards and fridge freezers can take advantage of amazing prices on bulk buys. The general rule of thumb is that the bigger the packet, the lower the price per unit. It’s easy to check this as the price per unit or per certain weight will be displayed within the product description.
For example, it’s likely to work out cheaper per toilet roll to buy a pack of nine than it is to buy a pack of four.
As always, be careful with perishables. It’s not a great deal if some of a bulk buy ends up in the bin.

Meal Deal
The meal deal has grown in popularity recently – possibly due to the fact that the financial climate has made staying in the new going out. Meal deals can vary but they typically include coordinating meal ingredients or dishes, and maybe even drinks, for a set price that saves you money overall. These deals are brilliant for indecisive types who struggle to plan meals and decide what to cook.

Reduced
Choose reduced items for a simple way to make instant savings. However, it’s also worth checking the price of the budget version of an item. For example, supermarket’s own baked beans may still be lower in price than a reduced branded baked bean. It’s down to you to weigh up which represents the best value for your individual tastes and preferences.

Marked Down
Marked down products usually become available at the end of the day, on perishable items that are nearing their sell or use by dates. Doing your shopping close to closing time can be a good ploy for picking up marked down goods – many or which could be frozen to use at a later date without spoiling.

Promotional Offer
Sometimes you’ll find promotional offers on brand new products. These limited time lower prices are a great incentive to try something new.
Seeking out the best supermarket deals can slash your shopping bill considerably, so keep your eyes peeled when shopping in-store, or search offers when doing your grocery shopping online, for easy ways to save.

Wishing Our Readers A Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, everyone! We hope your holidays were great and you are ready for a year full of surprises and giveaways here at Children Teaching Mama. We will be finishing up more of the giveaways and reviews that were not completed before Christmas and playing catch up throughout January. Come February, we will welcome our annual Valentine's Day Gift Guide! There will be other surprises to come, I am sure, but for now we will finish up the holiday fun.

As I've mentioned in the past, my youngest son, Liam, was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis at around a year old and, at the age of three, he has gone through more than I have in my 32 years. Right now he is going through chemotherapy and has done very well with it so far. We've been very pleased because he's not had any of the side effects you most often hear about. The only problem is a decreased immune system, which has caused the most issues. We've been in and out of the hospital lately and he's had everything from sinus infections to pneumonia in the past two months.

We ask for your thoughts and prayers this year, as the next few months will determine the next part of Liam's treatment. He has 3 tumors in his brain and, hopefully, the chemo will decrease their size and keep them from growing. Liam's next MRI is later this month and then we will know more.

I want to thank all of my readers for following his progress and all all the well-wishes I've been sent. Please be patient with me over the next few months as we spend a great deal of time in the hospital and I don't have as much time to write up reviews. I'm still getting the hang of our change in life, but once I do, everything will be back to normal.

Lots of love, thanks and warm wishes to all of my readers,

Roxanne

Keep Your Family Safe With Recalls Plus

I never really knew just how many products are recalled each year until they became more advertised on the news. I remember when spinach was recalled and certain canned items. Then, I found out Josiah's car seat was recalled when he was a baby. How scary that can be as a parent to know that something you own was recalled? Especially when you do not even noticed for months after the fact. Just to think something could have happened to my children gives me a heart attack.  It's best to keep on top of recalls not only for your own children, but for other friends and family members. Soothe & Heal Cold Sores Quickly With Abreva & $25 Amazon.com Gift Card Giveaway

We have a busy holiday season every single year. In fact, we have already been busy preparing for our upcoming feast and family gathering. The four of us always go to my mom-in-law's house for Christmas Eve to be with my husband's side of the family. We stay there until late in the afternoon eating, enjoying seeing family we don't see often, opening presents and eating again! Then, we pile into the car and head towards North Carolina to do it all again the next day.

Unfortunately, another occurrence during the winter season are cold sores. I, along with about 80 million other Americans, am cursed with cold sores every single year when the winter weather comes in with the cold, dry air. Cold sores are blisters that form around the lips. If you've never experienced a cold sore, you are very lucky! These little suckers are painful and unsightly. Trying to cover them makes them worse, so they are pretty much out there for everyone in the world to see and stare at. It's embarrassing, to say the least.

What causes cold sores? There are several triggers, including stress, hormones, fatigue, UV rays, having a weak immune system from other illness, such as a cold or flu and many others. For myself, my triggers are usually either fatigue and lack of sleep or a prior illness that has caused my immune system to be weak. Just two weeks ago I had my first cold sore of the season, which arrived at the end of a horrible virus that passed around our family. Just when I thought I was getting better, my lip started hurting and I immediately knew I was in trouble. However, I always have Abreva nearby in case of an emergency.

Having a cold sore hurts, making it sometimes hard to smile, laugh and even talk depending on how bad they are. I have to watch what kinds of foods I eat when having a cold sore, too. Since they pop up on my lips, they are right in a very sensitive area. I can't even kiss my husband or boys! Plus, they can even stick around up to 2 weeks if left untreated. That's why I keep Abreva in our medicine cabinet and, at the first sign of a cold sore, I break out Abreva and put it to work.
The kids and I love making funny faces. I could NOT do this if I had a cold sore!
As soon as I put Abreva on my cold sore, it begins to tingle just a bit and within a short period of time, it already starts feeling better. It's soothing and sets my mind at ease because I know it will help. Why? It is the only over-the-counter medication proven to shorten healing time! It goes into the skin and strengthens it from inside out, making the cells in the skin barriers against the cold sore virus. No other cold sore medicine can do what Abreva does by soothing and healing skin. The other medicines I've tried usually made my skin more irritated.

The next time you feel a cold sore beginning to form, get some Abreva and put it to the test. You will not be disappointed. It is satisfaction guaranteed, too, so even if you aren't amazed by Abreva like I am, you can get your money back. There is no reason to suffer through cold sores any more!

Ready for a giveaway?
Thanks to Abreva, we have an awesome giveaway to share with everyone for this holiday season!

The Edge Tie-Dye Kangaroo Hoodie Shirt Review & Giveaway

Part of me thinks I should have been born in the 60s. I would have definitely been a hippie traveling around in my VW van, flowers in my hair and enjoying every minute of it. Even though I was born in the 80s, there are many things still around and popular today, including Tie-Dye. I love tie-dye shirts and so do my kids. We actually started an art project one day, trying to make our own tie-dye shirts, but ended up with a huge mess and had no idea what we were doing. I think I will leave it up to the professionals, which is why I was so excited to find The Edge Tie Dye Handcrafted Boutique.

About The Edge
We are a completely handcrafted tie dye boutique established in 1990 and we do all of the dying by hand, one piece at a time.  No vats or bulk dying.  Sometimes the cats help.  Our goal is to create affordable and unique wearable art using the highest quality, brand name, cotton & rayon clothing and to make your purchase of massive quantities a pleasant experience.

We meet some of our fans
We use fiber reactive dyes that we custom mix (with magic) to create our unique color patterns.  All of our items are completely colorfast and safe.  We promise no one will turn blue.  All cotton clothing is machine washable with your other darks, in warm or cold water and you can tumble dry. No running, shrinking or fading... guaranteed!

My Thoughts
I was so excited to look through The Edge Tie Dye's awesome selection of tie-dye items and have to admit it was very hard to decide which one I liked the best, especially since there were options for both adults and children. My son, Liam, really wanted one for his own, so the owner was nice enough to send an item for both of us! I received the Kangaroo Hoodie Shirt and he got the long-sleeved t-shirt for kids.

This is Liam wearing his tie dye shirt! We were actually at the hospital for one of his chemo treatments and I chose this shirt because it is so soft and comfortable. Plus, he loves the colors and design! It has been perfect for the cooler winter months we've experienced here in Georgia.
I, on the other hand, am always cold in the winter and am pretty much always wearing a sweatshirt, so I was very excited when I spotted the Kangaroo Hoodie, which is a soft cotton sweatshirt with a hood. It has quickly become my favorite shirt and I wear it weekly. It follows me around the house so I can put it on when I get cold and take if off when I get hot chasing after the boys. It's the most comfortable shirt I own and I love it!

There were many colors from which to choose and also many different designs. I love the swirls, but you can choose from a rainbow, heart, flame or many other designs, too. I really cannot say enough about my shirt and the quality of it. Since I've worn it so often, it has been washed several times and guess what? Just like the guarantee says, the colors have not faded one bit. It's as beautiful and colorful as it was when I received it.

Ready for a giveaway?
One Lucky Reader Will Win Their Choice of Kangaroo Hoodie Sweatshirt from The Edge Tie-Dye. Winner can choose whether they want one for an adult or child as well as the colors and design!
