An Amazing Outing In Atlanta - A Review Of Disney's The Lion King At The Fox Theatre @BRAVEprATL @broadwayatlanta @TheLionKing

My husband and I don't get time alone often, so this past weekend we planned ahead for a special night away from the kiddos. My husband hasn't been to the theatre in years, so when I told him we were going to see The Lion King, he couldn't wait. Our kids wanted to go, too, and I'm pretty sure we will be back for another show sometime soon because it was an amazing performance.

I didn't realize the Dogwood Festival was also last weekend and a Braves game was going Saturday night, so traffic was awful. We factored in some extra time for traffic, but not enough and I was so worried about being late. Luckily, The Fox Theatre began the play a little late to give all of us time to get to our seats! We arrived just in time for the show to began and could feel the energy from the audience right away.

I loved The Lion King animated film and many of our friends recommended seeing it on stage, but I really had no idea what to expect. As soon as the show began, I was completely captivated. The players perfectly captured the spirit of their characters, especially Rafiki, and had us in the palms of their hands from the very get go.

In addition to the wonderful acting, the scenery was visually stunning and breathtaking! From a beautiful sunset over Africa with animals roaming the stage to a luscious green forest during Hukuna Matata, each scene was unique, colorful and captivating. You could hear the oohs and ahhhs throughout the theatre each time the curtain came up and revealed a different background.

By the time The Lion King reached the end, the entire audience was so wrapped up in the story that everyone jumped up from their seats to applaud the performers. In fact, we clapped so much that the cast came out for an encore! The last photo in the collage did not come out very well, but is of the cast at the end of the play. If you look closely, you can see Pumba's snout pretty well, though!

Have you seen The Lion King on stage? If not, you still have time to reserve your tickets for the Atlanta, Georgia performance. Believe me, you will not be disappointed. You could have a date night like my husband and I did or go as a family. Children will really get a kick out of seeing their favorite characters on stage. I cannot wait to see the reactions of my two boys when we go together the next time.
